East Africa Regional Representative (RR) Nairobi, Kenya required for the Famine Early Warning Systems Network (FEWS NET)
FEWS NET is a stakeholder platform funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Its aims to provide timely, accurate, evidence-based, and relief security early warning information.
FEWS NET located field offices in Africa, Asia, Central America and the Caribbean. These offices were organized differently for technical and administrative management systems.
Lesser qualifications for this position include:
Proficiency in written and spoken English is required. Other local language skills are required from the region.
A bachelor's degree in a discipline relevant to FEWS NET's work, such as economics, economics, nutrition, meteorology, anthropology, or social geography, is required. Advanced university degree (Master's degree or higher) required.
A minimum of six years of experience (with Ph.D.), ten years of experience (with Master's degree) or 15 years of experience (with Bachelor's field of experience) is required.
Ability to set strategic direction for a team of colleagues.
Ability to work effectively with others at all levels. Ability to liaise effectively with advisors, advisors governments, UN, NG and other relevant stakeholders and remotely.
Ability to communicate effectively, Excellent computer skills; GIS applications and mapping skills are desired.
